The next generation of Kardashian-Jenners Kendall and Kylie Jenner graciously stepped into the spotlight in style! Joico Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas just upgraded their haircolor.
Kylie opted for a dramatic, deep brunette, while her sister Kendall received a subtle balayage highlight enhancement for her natural medium-brown hue.
Here, this top talent shares his color strategies.
On Kylie:
The request was black hair, but, of course Papanikolas knows better! "Black color tends to look too dull and inky," says Papanikolas. "Plus, I know how young girls are-they change their color all the time. I decided to make life easy for myself when she comes back."
Papanikolas artistically whipped up the following dark brown Joico formula:
Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome Demi-Permanent Color 3/4 N4 + 1/4 N1 + Activator.
He then applied the formula to Kylie's Level 5 hair, roots to ends and processed for 20 minutes.
"This dark brown formula looks black, but it's still shiny and reflective."

On Kendall:
The teen beauty queen requested a subtle upgrade of her natural Level 5.5 medium brown, virgin color.
Papanikolas created balayage highlights with Joico K-PAK VeroLight Lightener + 40-volume developer.
He applied the highlight formula in a v-shape-finer at the roots and mid-lengths and heavier at the ends-and lifted the color to golden blonde. ("It's best not to lift brunette hair super light," he notes.)
Then he glossed all strands, roots to ends for five minutes at the bowl with Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome Demi-Permanent Color 1/2 A7 + 1/2 A9 + Activator to neutralize any warmth.
