Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014

When it comes to New York Fashion Week SS2014, we've got you covered!

Chromat

Hair by Chuck Amos using Oribe Hair Care.
Geek chic was the inspiration behind Chromat's Spring/Summer 2014.

Presentation, which was cheekily titled “Mathletes.” The collection featured Chromat's signature architectural harnesses, bralettes and bandage dresses with a varsity twist in a monochrome palette with pops of canary yellow. Lead stylist Chuck Amos used Oribe Hair Care to create a sleek, sporty and clean ponytail that fit perfectly under the snapback-inspired headpieces. “I really wanted the hair to act as a backdrop and complement the intricate makeup and clothes,” Amos said.

Get the Look

1. Apply Crème for Style to the hair and spray Royal Blowout on the ends to protect strands.

2. Blow dry the hair and then flat iron for super sleek locks.

3. Combine Supershine and Gel Sérum and distribute through the top half of the hair and pull into a high ponytail.

4. Take a small section from the underside of the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic several times.

5. Mist a toothbrush with Superfine Strong and brush away any flyways.

David Hart

Hair by Kien Hoang for Oribe Hair Care.
When dreaming up his Spring/Summer 2014 collection, menswear designer.

David Hart was inspired by the photographs of Alfred Eisenstaedt and the golden age of tourism in the .50s and .60s, specifically in Hawaii. The resulting collection includes well-tailored suits and menswear separates in lush fabrics that showcase Hart's expert use of colors, which has become his signature. Lead stylist Kien Hoang for Oribe Hair Care wanted the hair to look natural, like they'd just been on holiday. “The hair is different this season,” said Hoang, who also styled Hart’s debut show in February 2013. “It's more relaxed and the texture of the hair is more matte. I wanted the models to look as if they'd been lounging by the ocean while
on vacation and are just about to get ready for dinner.”

Get the Look:

1. Prep the hair with Foundation Mist.

2. Apply Surfcomber Tousled Texture Mousse throughout the hair and blow dry.

3. Part the hair to the side and finish with Thick Dry Finishing Spray for body and texture. For the boys with curlier hair, finish with Soft Dry Conditioner Spray to soften stiff curls for a cool, vacation look.

Adam Selman

Hair by Holli Smith for Oribe Hair Care.
Makeup by Aaron de Mey using MAC.
Nails by Madeline Poole using Ciate.

For his premiere collection, designer Adam Selman was dually inspired by the 1978 film Eyes of Laura Mars and urban street wear. Key hairstylist Holli Smith for Oribe Hair Care looked to vintage magazine covers for styles that would complement Selman’s designs. "We used the '70s as reference for this beautiful Cosmo hair," said Holli, who created three different looks for the show. Two of the styles had elements of volume in the front and texture throughout the ends, while the other was a sleek side bun with wisps in the front to add some softness. The entire look was completed with '80sinspired makeup of bright eye shadows and pink cheeks created by Aaron de Mey using MAC with accompanying glossy red nails by nail artist Madeline Poole using Ciate's boudoir polish.

Side bun:

1. Spray Maximista throughout hair, concentrating at the roots, and blow dry hair using a paddle brush. Sweep hair across the head to the right shoulder, smoothing the hair down with the brush as you go.

2. Use the paddle brush to gather hair at the nape of the neck into a low ponytail and secure with a bungee.

3. Twist ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Take fingers and gently rub along the hairline to pull out little wisps of hair. Finish with Superfine Strong.

Volume with hair pushed back:

1. Start the look with straight hair. If your natural hair has texture, blow out first using a paddle brush.

2. Spray Maximista at roots and blowdry hair, concentrating at the front and using your fingers to lift hair for more volume. Continue spraying front hairline with Maximista and diffusing with blowdryer, pulling the hair up and back until the desired look is achieved.

3. Spray lengths of hair with a mix of Dry and Maximista for texture.

4. Set front of hair with Superfine Strong.

Volume with side part:

1. Start look with straight hair. If your natural hair has texture, blow out first using a paddle brush.

2. Spray Maximista at roots and blow dry hair, concentrating at the front and using your fingers to lift hair for more volume.

3. Spray lengths of hair with a mix of Dry and Maximista for texture.

4. Part hair to one side, pushing the parted side behind the ear and allowing hair from the other side to fall forward in front of the eye. Add more Maximista, concentrating on the roots and diffusing with fingers and a blow dryer for more lift and added texture. Set front of hair with Superfine Strong.
