The vibrant city of Austin, Texas will be the scene of the upcoming "Celebrate Your Color" Color-A-Thon, which will be held March 9 at Bastrop's Best Lil Hair House in Texas. Salon clients are invited to come and enliven their color for a great cause! A total of three Austin-area Matrix salons will participate in the Color-A-Thon event in which complimentary color services will be performed in exchange for donations to the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center. The organization provides information, planning and support for unplanned pregnancies to young girls and their families. The salon teams from LeeAnn's Salon of Bastrop and Heavenly Hair Salon and Spa of Elgin will join Best Lil Hair House in Texas for the fundraising event. Clients can choose from a wide menu of color services, including highlights, glossing, dimensional color and gray blending. Matrix will also support the Color-A-Thon with additional staff members and fun product sample giveaways. All stylists will use Matrix haircolor-including SoColor and Color Sync.
According to Laurie Schneider, owner of Best Lil Hair House in Texas, the group selected the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center as the Color-A-Thon beneficiary because the small and relatively new organization has been overshadowed by all of the recent fundraisers that have been held since the devastating September 2011 fire. "We felt that our event would be able to raise enough money to make a difference for the Pregnancy Resource Center," says Schneider. Although Color-A-Thon guests will provide donations to the resource center, victims of the Bastrop fire will be included in the event as they are invited to receive complimentary color services.
Sue Long, a Best Lil Hair House in Texas client and occasional volunteer at the Pregnancy Resource Center, can be credited for bringing the organization to Schneider's attention. "This is an organization where women of all ages can come and get information on pregnancy and adoption, along with counseling, in a very loving and non-judgmental environment," explains Long. "It's also a resource for baby food, clothing, furniture, diapers-anything a mother needs."
