Regis Corporation expands its color partnership with Matrix

Matrix is certainly adding more than a splash of color to the world, and was recently appointed the official haircolor brand of Regis Salons and corporate Cost Cutters salons. "For the Matrix family, 2012 will be the year to 'Celebrate Your Color,'" says Colin Walsh, Matrix Senior VP and General Manager.

The Matrix brand has quite a history with Regis Salons. According to Matrix National Account Director Joy Meyers, the Regis-owned SmartStyle and MasterCuts salons have been using Matrix color for years and several Regis Corporation regional brands have been using the system for two years now. Based on the salons' success while working with Matrix SOCOLOR and Color Sync, and on the solid partnership developed between the organizations, Matrix debuted its stellar color programs at the Regis Salon Division and corporate Cost Cutters salons in January 2012. This move will open 1,300 new color doors, and ultimately the color will be phased into 6,800 Regis corporate salons by 2016.

A key initiative in the color conversions is the Regis-exclusive CRAFT Color Cafés. These informative classes provide stylists with the expert training needed while working with Matrix color. Classes are led by Michael McDonough, Matrix Director of Training, and are facilitated by a select group of Matrix Educators and Regis Artistic Directors. "We've already conducted 70 CRAFT Color Café's in 2011, and we estimate that we have trained at least 6,000 Regis stylists," reveals Meyers. "Our goal for 2012 is to conduct 100 CRAFT Color Café' programs across the country and train over 10,000 Regis corporate stylists."

Beyond the initial training, Matrix will continue to support stylists via twice-yearly trips to special Regis/Matrix destination training events. It will also support clients via gifts with services. Beyond the color collections, customized assortments of Matrix Biolage and Total Results haircare and styling products are now available on backbars at all salons that carry the Matrix color lines. In addition, Matrix is committed to providing more involvement and support of The Hair Book-a customized publication designed exclusively for Regis Salon clients.
