Milan's Fashion Week showcased a range of looks that will surely spice up Spring/Summer 2012. At the Bottega Veneta show, easy yet sophisticated style was a focus while Jil Sander highlighted classic beauty. Glamour was a key theme at the Dolce & Gabbana show, which presented a collection of romantic dresses and feminine silhouettes. Regardless of the style, Redken's creative consultant and master stylist, Guido worked behind-the-scenes to create head-turning hairstyles to suit each collection. From wet chignons to timeless sculptured looks and classic hair twists, beauty certainly ruled the runways.
In this special Fashion Week coverage, HOT provides a glimpse of the action from behind-the-scenes. Read on to find out what trends will dominate for Spring/Summer 2012.
Bottega Veneta
Uncomplicated yet sophisticated looks were a key style at Bottega Veneta. Guido, Redken's creative consultant, created three distinct hairstyles that each truly reflected the collection's individual design aesthetic for Spring/Summer 2012. A wet chignon complemented the elegant looks that graced the runways. "Bottega Veneta's Spring/Summer 2012 collection is very sophisticated, so we wanted to off-set it with an easy, sexy, summery hairstyle," says Guido. "The style is uncomplicated and is something that anyone can create themselves and wear." To achieve the look, Guido used Full Frame 07 All-over Volumizing Mousse and All Soft Argan-6 Multi-care Oil.
Create the Look:
● Over-apply Full Frame 07 All-over Volumizing Mousse to wet hair and let it dry naturally.
● Run All Soft Argan-6 Multi-care Oil through hair (with fingers) for added shine and a wet look.
● Use the fingers to pull hair back into a low ponytail at ear level. Note there is no part in the hair.
● Wrap the ponytail into a messy chignon.
● Apply All Soft Argan-6 Multi-care Oil to the crown of the hair for additional shine to create a wet effect.

Jil Sander
Tailored and timeless, fresh and modern will be the focus of fashion for Jil Sander. The models flaunted timeless hair looks that truly accented the classic clothing. "In the true DNA of the brand, this is a rich woman's hairdo. It looks almost so perfect that it has no period," says Guido. "It could be from the future, but also nods to the past. It's inspired by the 1950's, but then becomes mid-century modern, which makes it such a sculptured look. It's very helmut-like; the shape and texture makes it look as though it's stuck on." Guido used a team of products from the Redken collection, including Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray and Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray to craft the sculptured looks.
Create the Look:
● Apply Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray liberally to damp hair to give it some texture.
● Section the hair and blow-dry.
● Backcomb each section to create volume and height, then brush hair back away from the face and create a ponytail, securing an elastic band at the very end of it.
● With the help of a foam roller, roll the hair starting from the ends, tucking it under and pinning it.
● Layer Forceful 23 Hairspray to create the glossy, helmut-like shape and to smooth the hair.

Dolce & Gabbana
Romantic, feminine looks are ushering in a hint of Hollywood glamour and drama at Dolce & Gabbana. A classic hair twist complemented the sexy, colorful looks that graced the runways. "The look is very Sicilian, inspired by Sophia Loren. We pulled the hair loosely back into a French twist and it looks a bit as if the woman was dancing all night-it's effortlessly gorgeous," says Guido. To master the look, Guido used Thickening Lotion 06 All-over Body Builder, Tousle Whip 04 Soft Texturizing Cream-wax and Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray.
Create the Look:
● Apply Thickening Lotion 06 All-over Body Builder to damp hair and rough dry without a brush (to keep any natural movement in the hair) until hair is 90 percent dry.
● Apply Tousle Whip 04 Soft Texturizing Cream-wax throughout the front of the hair to enhance any natural movement and let the hair air dry the last 10 percent.
● Beginning at the nape of the neck working up, back-brush the hair for added texture.
● Finger comb the hair back away from the face and pull the hair back into a French twist, securing it with bobby pins.
● Make sure to keep the hair loose around the face (not pulled back too tight), so you can see the natural movement of the hair texture.
● Finish with Fashion Work 12 Versatile Working Spray.
