Cut 1. Begin by sectioning the hair from the temple to the crown and horizon- tally across the crown from ear to ear. 2-3. Working from the side parting, each section is elevated straight out from the head and overdirected onto the previously cut section. This cut- ting technique creates a square flat shape through the top. 4-6. Comb away the fringe section and begin the side section by cutting at an angle of 45° to the head. 7-8. Continue working to behind the ear. The same procedure is repeat- ed on the second side to create a graduated shape. 9-10. Sections from behind the ear through to the center nape are overdirected and cut using the previously cut side section as a guide. Continue through to the centre nape. 11. Repeat for the other side of the head. 12. A central section is taken through the nape and elevated straight out from the head. 13. Using the previously cut top section as a guide, each section is over directed onto this point and cut at a 45° angle to the head. This will retain weight through the corners of the head shape. 14-17. The hairlines and fringe section are now refined using the point of the scissors. The cut is cross checked for balance and attention to detail. Color Using a basic tint application technique, the color was applied all over working from roots to ends. The color was then left to develop according to the manufacturer's shade guide instructions.
