1. Section the hair horizontally from ear to ear from just below the crown. Take the first section in the centre back and cut by pulling the hair out at a 90° angle to the head. Work around the head in this manner, taking parallel sections and using the previous section as your guide.
2-3. Once complete comb the hair down and cut a line tight into the nape of the neck. Further define the outline using the point of your scissors.
4-7. Move on to the side sections by taking a side parting and raising each vertical section at a 90° degree angle to the head, cut as before. Work forward from just behind the ear and pull each parallel section back to the previously cut section, connecting the haircut as you go. Next move through to the top section using the previously cut side sections as your guide, each section is worked around the head shape. For the outline leave length in front of the ear and point a line from the jaw upwards to just behind the ear.
8-10. The same sectioning and cutting procedure is repeated on the opposite side of the head. Now perform visual checks for balance and weight and work over the hair cut using a freehand cutting technique to add texture through the lengths and create a slightly dishevelled effect. Using the point of your scissors create a short, rounded and structured fringe outline with broken edges that hug the hairline.
11-12. Our model's natural hair colour is a base 7-0 Medium Blonde with a tone 7 Copper Gold throughout. Firstly apply Igora Skin Protection cream around the hairline to prevent staining. Begin with the back section and apply the colour to the roots, working up towards the crown.
13-14. Once this is completed, work from the crown towards the front hairline. Then return to the first section and apply the colour to the mid lengths and ends. The colour is then left to develop according to manufacturers shade guide instructions.
