NAHA's Brightest Stars


The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), a Professional Beauty Association (PBA) event that is recognized as the most prestigious photographic hairstyling and beauty competition in North America, unveils the winners of NAHA 2013!!

The luminaries were recognized on July 14, during a star-studded ceremony held at the ultra-stylish Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. More than 3,000 beauty professionals attended the fete, which was viewed by tens of thousands of viewers who tuned in to the live streaming broadcast from destinations across the globe.

Allen Ruiz from the Jackson Ruiz Salon in Austin, Texas nabbed NAHA's top honor as he was named "Hairstylist of the Year." This win marks Ruiz's second Hairstylist of the Year honor, making this top talent only one of three stylists to ever achieve this honor more than once!

Finalists and attendees mingled with a host of other A-listers, including 2013's host Mario Lopez and Dita Von Teese. Lopez also received an honor when he received the PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award for his contributions to an array of charitable causes, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Community Youth Athletic Center of Chula Vista, Jameson's Army, and Padres Contra el Cancer.

Beyond the awards presentation, the glittering event featured artistic presentations from Aveda, KAO/Goldwell and Dimitrios Tsioumas-the recipient of the 2012 Hairstylist of the Year NAHA title. This year's People's Choice honor also went to Tsioumas of the Mizu New York salon in New York City.

It's not too soon to get ready for 2014! Next year will mark NAHA's 25th anniversary! In celebration, PBA and the NAHA will showcase the history of NAHA and what it has meant to the careers and lives of many stylists throughout the years.
