Orange Is the New Black star Dascha Polanco, who plays inmate Dayanara "Daya" Diaz, is causing quite a stir with her new smoky strands. While it’s not commonly known, Dascha wears a hairpiece -- the final look is created with human hair extensions.
“My formula was inspired by the transition of seasons,” reveals her go-to stylist, Cynthia Alvarez. “That’s why I married the cool-weather look of gray with the warm-weather feel of lavender."
Dascha Polanco's Formula:
Roots to Midshafts: 1 tube Pravana Silver with nickel-sized amount of Black
Midshafts to Ends: Equal parts Luscious Lavender and Too Cute Coral
Directions:
1. Prelighten hair to level 10 to ensure vivid color results.
2. Apply the Silver formula from the roots to chin level.
3. Apply the Luscious Lavender and Too Cute Coral formula from the mid-shafts to ends, blending the meeting point of the two formulas to create a seamless transition.
4. Process until you achieve the desired color results.
TIP: Cynthia added a touch of black to Dascha’s formula to complement her caramel-colored skin. You should add more or less black, depending on the depth of your client’s complexion.
