In the latest episode of the Drab to Fab web series, Joico International Artistic Director Damien Carney focuses his talents on a recent college grad who is ready for her foray into the working world.
With wardrobe direction from Revenge A-lister Ashley Madekwe, the dynamic duo provides this former student with head-to-toe style, which empowers her to step into the career world with confidence.
The Drab to Fab transformation begin with a modern haircut. By creating soft layers, a diffused perimeter and a dramatic fringe, Carney demonstrates how long, lifeless hair can become instantly chic and fun.
"A shape like this, with broken up edges and a face-opening fringe, will impress everyone!" declares Carney. "The facts that the perimeter is softly textured rather than blunt, and the bangs are dramatic, are what contribute to the modernity of this look." What's more, the texture offers myriad styling and finishing options. The look can be worn sleek or curly or softly waved. "She can even pin up the back to make it look like a short haircut." Spray lightly with Power Spray to finish off the style while keeping humidity at bay.
After a thorough assessment of the finished look, Madekwe decides to carry out the theme of updated classics in the wardrobe. She selects a black blazer with a touch of edginess in the tailoring. "This blazer is perfect for any transitional wardrobe," says Madekwe. "It can go with jeans, a black dress, a skirt or shorts." For this Drab to Fab look, the style guru chooses easy black trousers and a black and white blouse for the perfect first-day-of-work outfit.
