Sebastian What's Next Awards

Sarah Merrie, winner of Phase IV of Sebastian Professional's What's Next Awards Earns Backstage Styling Pass to Spring '12 New York Fashion Week

Phase IV of Sebastian Professional's What's Next Awards comes to a close as Sarah Merrie of Hollywood's Hairroin Salon finds fame and glory, for showcasing the most vibrant color shine. Sarah's no stranger to pushing the limits, and her winning look entitled "Pop Color" proves she's one fearless stylist! As the What's Next Awards winner, Sarah will join Sebastian Professional styling team backstage at New York Spring '12 Fashion Week where her shining styling abilities will take the runway by storm.

Judge and Sebastian Professional Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin commended Sarah's vision and felt it was a perfect match for "the ‘fearless color shine' theme. It is a truly inspiring look that has utilized the Sebastian product line in a clever way. It is the epitome of the brand."

Sarah quotes her inspiration as, "the resurgence in the trend of vibrant colors not found in natural hair coloring. I was interested in creating the effect of a vibrant palette while emulating the gradient feel of natural hair color, keeping it dark at the base and gradually lighter towards the tips. I guess you could say I was inspired by applying the laws of nature to the extreme." Sarah prepped her model's hair with Sebastian Professional Trilliant for shine and thermal protection, spritzed Shine Define for a sleek, straight style, and applied Halo Mist for intense shine and maximum reflection.

Choosing between the talented finalists was no easy task for the elite panel of judges, who selected Jordan McLeod as first runner-up. His look entitled "Rush of Red" played with reds, coppers and golds which Dunkin called "dramatic and bold." To create the style, McLeod washed the model's hair with Sebastian Professional Color Ignite Multi Tone Shampoo and Conditioner, styled with a blow-dryer and topped it off with Shaper Zero Gravity and Re-Shaper.
