Every good hairdresser should have a beehive up his sleeve! Gentle back-combing and a 'doughnut' at the crown give this 'do its signature shape.

STARTING COLOR: Laura's natural color is a base 5-0 (light brown).
COLOR FORMULAS: The hair was colored with Igora Vibrance 4-66 (Medium brown auburn extra) mixed with Igora Vibrance developer 4% mixed in a ratio of one part 4-66 together with 2 parts of developer lotion to give a rich depth and high gloss shine. The colour was developed according to manufacturers shade guide instructions.

1-3. A circular section is chosen and combed in at the crown area. The hair within this section is put into a small tightly secured pony tail.
4. The hair was then set on large Velcro rollers and sprayed with Silhouette flexible hold hairspray. A dressing doughnut is placed on top of the circular section and the pony tail pulled through.
5. The tail is fixed under rollers as shown on the photo.
6-10. The doughnut is then pinned into place to avoid it slipping out of position.
Narrow hair sections are taken around the perimeter of the doughnut as shown and these sections are gently backcombed using a dressing brush from the Schwarzkopf Professional Salon Tool Collection and combed up over the doughnut to build up a conical shape. Gradually work around the shape building up hair until the doughnut is no longer visible using a smaller dressing brush to push the hair inside the doughnut together with Silhouette flexible hold hairspray which is sprayed onto each section before brushing the hair into a smooth polished shape. The finished shape has both a strong and modern feel.
