New Jersey Style

Beauty was certainly a key focus at Fashion & Beauty Week 2013, which kicked off March 19 at The Venetian in Garfield, NJ. A host of topnotch designers and salons nationwide united in the name of fashion to generate funds and awareness for the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI).

The splashy event was hosted by celebrity guest Danielle Monaro from Z100's Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. Gala attendees gathered at the event to mingle with all types of A-listers-from celebrities to stylists, fashion and beauty editors, athletes and industry icons. Beyond a cocktail dinner and Lord & Taylor beauty bar, there were fashion shows from a lineup of renowned designers. Design houses included Monique Lhuillier, Kelsy Zimba, THEIA, Jay Godfrey, Melissa Odabash, Naven, Sue Wong, Adrian Alicea, Robert Graham and JS Collections.

Other perks included a silent auction, luxury lounge and festive after-party.

FBW Nights' Out followed the runway gala. Held from March 20 through 24, the week-long event featured a series of in-store events held at select department stores, boutiques, salons, spas and restaurants. A portion of the night's proceeds will benefit the Diabetes Research Institute-a center of excellence at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine. The DRI is credited with changing the international research paradigm, ensuring that promising findings in the lab can be translated to patients in the fastest, safest and most efficient way possible. This year's goal is to exceed the $47,512, which was raised last year.
