Coloring the Red Carpet

Although the 2013 Golden Globe Awards honored a lineup of luminaries who hail from film and television, the haircolor was pretty outstanding.

Here, George Papanikolas presents his awards for the best in show-and shares the how-tos.

Best "Bronde": Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Alba

Soft brown color melting into creamy ombre ends produces the perfect "bronde" marriage of brunette and blonde. "To get these creamy tones use an ash-based formula that will neutralize the red undertones," says Papanikolas.

Formulas:
Natural Level: 5
Base: Equal parts Joico Vero K-PAK Color 6A + 20-volume Veroxide
Highlights: Joico VeroLight Dust Free Lightening Powder + 30-volume Veroxide
To create the highlights, section the hair horizontally, backcomb hair and apply the lightener to the ends. Lift to golden blonde. For Lopez's highlights, apply the highlights to alternate sections to vary the tones.

Best Bombshell Blonde: Francesca Eastwood

Va-voom! This crystal-clear, pale blonde is the ultimate in Hollywood glamour and the perfect shade for Clint's little girl!

Formulas:
Lift: Equal parts Joico Vero K-PAK Color Cr?me Lightenter + 30-volume Veroxide. Apply 1/2 inch off of the scalp to ends. Process, pull through to the roots and lift to pale blonde.
Tone: Joico Vero K-PAK Color TSB Silver Blonde Toner + 20-volume Veroxide. Process for 5 minutes.

Claire Danes

Best Golden Blonde: Claire Danes

"This is a beautiful, bright, buttery shade," says Papanikolas. "It's arguably the most perfect, flattering blonde. I like Joico Base Breaker to bring up the golden undertones."

Formulas:
Base: Equal parts Joico Base Breaker + 20-volume Veroxide
Highlights: Joico VeroLight Dust Free Lightening Powder + 20-volume Veroxide
Apply heavy foil highlights throughout the top sections and lift to pale golden blonde.

Best Cabernet Red: Debra Messing

Messing's cool red hue was a "smash" on the Red Carpet-the perfect accessory to her milky skin and black gown. A fusion of gold, copper and red mahogany creates the perfect, cool, balanced red.

Regrowth: Joico Vero K-PAK Color 1/2 oz. 6G + 1/2 oz. 5RM + 1 oz. 20-volume Veroxide
Midlengths and ends: Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome 1/2 oz. RM5 + 1/2 oz. RC6 + 2 oz. activator

Best Copper Red: Jessica Chastain
