Transformation through Texture

Matrix Artistic Directors Nick Stenson and Daniel Roldan contributed to the fashion buzz that swirled around during New York Fashion Week. The duo created five crimped, voluminous and braided looks for a presentation they labeled "Neo Victorian." Hosted by social media company TextureMedia and emceed by the organization's president and co-founder Michelle Breyer, the show spotlighted the latest and greatest cuts and colors, as well as innovative products, treatments and styles for curls, kinks and waves. The fashion-driven event celebrated textured hair and presented it as though it was the ultimate accessory.

A special media/VIP preview event, which was held at SoHo's sleek City Winery, preceded the runway show. It enabled guests to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the runway styles and provided an opportunity for guests to meet and mingle with the topnotch artists that participated in the program. Additionally, the event was streamed live to an audience of millions worldwide, and viewers were encouraged to participate via Facebook and Twitter before, during and after the event.

Stenson and Roldan revealed that the styles they created combined silhouettes from the Victorian era with ultra modern interior textures. "We took elements from the past and combined them with tools from the future, like crimpers and micro-crimpers to produce these airy, wearable shapes," explains Roldan. "Care and styling products from the Matrix Total Results collection were used to establish the foundation for each hot look, including the Total Results Amplify, Color Care and Curl ranges. Two hot new products-Matrix Biolage Colorcaretherapie Shine Shake Spray and Design Pulse Mega Dust Volume Texturizer-were also instrumental in attaining the final textured for each style. The multi-purpose Shine Shake Spray can be used as a treatment, a detangler and a cutting lotion, and it also defends haircolor's depth, tone and shine. Mega Dust Volume Texturizer offers mega volumizing muscle and sturdy support for chic, disheveled separation and updos.
