Brigitte Bardot was the epitome of French-girl chic. She made sexy look effortless and men around the world were putty in her hands. With a good comb and our tips, you can channel this ultimate it-girl's style!

Step 1. Begin by making sure that super curly or wavy tresses are flat-ironed or blow-dried straight. Allow strands to cool before moving on to Step 2.

(* NOTE: Although curls and waves will create major height and volume, they will also have a tendency to be more easily damaged.  Avoid backcombing hair that has any natural texture without first straightening to prevent excessive tangling.)

Step 2. Begin by using a soft boar’s head brush or similar natural-bristle brush to make sure that all knots and tangles are completely removed from all strands before backcombing.

Step 3. Using a rattail or metal comb or teasing brush, part off a section of hair from the rest of the strands. Clip the remaining hair out of the way.

Step 4. Starting at the back of the crown and working your way forward, use your hands in conjunction with a comb or brush to gather a small section of hair approximately 1-2 inches in thickness.

Step 5. Hold the ends of the new section straight up and out from the scalp with one hand, and with the other, run the comb down the length of the hair from the end toward the base of the scalp in short, sharp and uniform strokes.

Step 6. Spray newly teased sections with a firm-hold hairspray. Repeat after each new section is created.

Step 7. Gather the remaing un-teased hair into a ponytail at the mid-point of your head, keeping level with the outer corners of your eyes. Wrap an elastic around the base of the ponytail.

Step 8. Gather top teased section of the hair and guide it up and over until it reaches the base of the ponytail; secure with a bobby pin.

Step 9. Mist the finished style with a firm-hold spray.
